Doing stuff for the community...'n stuff

Sunday night. Typical calm before the storm of another work week. Kate is painting. I am playing a round of Settlers of Catan. Some of us are more creative than others, I guess. We avoided drifting through this weekend, which we usually do just to restore or sanity in preparation for the week to come, and dabbled in our first European volunteer project. But not just any volunteer project.

This weekend, SAP AG Germany introduced several volunteer initiatives. SAP is trying to get its corporate-citizenship ball rolling by getting 150 of its employees to sacrifice their Saturday and get involved in the community. Now SAP has a local staff of 10,000 strong, so 1,5% may not seem like a whole lot. But do not underestimate the sanctity of the German Saturday, especially a German SAP employee's Saturday - it's worth its hours in gold.

Kate and I donated our Saturday to painting the interior of a nonprofit private kindergarten. Kate put her painting skills to the test. Here are some pictures:
